We know how important your engagement ring is and learning the best way to keep and care your piece is just the first step in wearing it forever. Here are some easy steps and ideas to care for your engagement ring.
HOW TO CLEAN YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING:
1. Fill bowl with warm water
2. Add tablespoon of dish soap
3. Soak for 20 minutes
4. Gently brush with VERY soft toothbrush, get between any pavé and prongs
5. Air dry or pat dry with a soft microfiber cloth
Put the ring close to your ear and hold the side of the band tightly between your two fingers. Tap the band of the ring with your index finger on your other hand and listen for a rattling sound.
If you have any question as to how secure your stone is in its' setting -- contact the designer or jeweler who created your piece to assure it's adjusted correctly.
HOW TO SAFELY SECURE YOUR ENGAGEMENT RING:
If you do not own an in-home safe or security box, establish one memorable place in your home to keep your engagement ring. That way, you’ll always know where to find it. Whether it's a soft lined jewelry box or case, make it somewhere you can keep the piece secure and top of mind.
Keep your engagement ring somewhere cool and dry and just in case, away from sunlight (prolonged exposure to UV rays can sometimes negatively impact the appearance of your diamond).
INSURING YOUR RING:
If you have homeowner's or renter's insurance, you can purchase an extension (also called a rider) that covers your engagement ring specifically.
If you don't have homeowner's or renter's insurance, you can take out a policy through an independent company that specializes in jewelry insurance like Jewelers Mutual.
We recommend insuring your piece at the same time as the production process is complete and you have a formal appraisal ready for insuring. This way you will be covered immediately, worry free.
